Aaron Tward

Co-Founder at Affinia Therapeutics

Aaron Tward has held a variety of roles in the medical field since 2007. Aaron began their career as an Intern at Brigham and Women's Hospital, followed by a Clinical Fellow in Otology and Laryngology at Harvard Medical School. Aaron then moved on to a Neurotology Fellow and Resident Physician role at Mass. Eye and Ear, and a Researcher role at the Broad Institute. In 2014, they became an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at UCSF, and in 2019 they co-founded Affinia Therapeutics. In 2018, they joined Akouos as the Chief Scientific Officer, and in 2022 they will become an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.

Aaron Tward obtained their Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1999. Aaron then obtained their Master of Arts in the same field from the same university. From 2001 to 2005, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, San Francisco. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, San Francisco in 2007. Aaron attended Granada Hills High School prior to their university studies.
