Bounthon Loun

Bounthon Loun has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Bounthon is currently the Executive Director of QC, Analytical and Formulation/Drug Product Development at Affinivax Inc. Prior to that, they worked at Takeda Pharmaceuticals as the Director of Vaccine Analytical Sciences for four years. Bounthon also served as the Director of Analytical Assay Development at Merial, a Sanofi Company, and as the Sr. Director of Analytical and Formulation Development at Nuron Biotech Inc. Bounthon Loun has also held positions at Pfizer, Wyeth Vaccine, Wyeth Vaccines, and Covance Laboratories, where they gained significant expertise in assay development, formulation, method validation, and technical transfer. Bounthon played a crucial role in the development of the successful Prevnar 13 vaccine.

Bounthon Loun has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry from Minnesota State University, Mankato, which they obtained from 1985 to 1989. Bounthon then pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1989 to 1992. Following that, they furthered their education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where they completed their Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from 1992 to 1994. Lastly, they engaged in a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Chemistry at Duke University School of Medicine from 1994 to 1996.
