Nana Eshun

Director & General Counsel at Africa Finance

Nana Eshun is a Director and the General Counsel of the Corporation, with oversight responsibility for Corporate governance, corporate secretariat, legal administration and support. She has over 30 years' experience in the legal profession with specialist expertise in infrastructure financing across Africa and Internationally.

Nana’s experience includes providing advice and support for AFC as an equity investor to a US$1 billion greenfield power plant financing; representing AFC as a project developer/financier of IPPs in Cape Verde, Ghana, Nigeria and Rwanda; input into upstream and midstream oil and gas transactions; and various other corporate, financing and other transactions covering :- project finance, private finance initiative (PFI), policy development, public private partnerships, debt and equity investment, fund raising and borrowings in key infrastructure sectors of natural resources, power, transport, heavy industry, information technology, telecommunications, property and investment funds.

Prior to joining AFC in 2008, Nana was Consultant Legal Counsel at the African Development Bank (AfDB) where she led on the legal aspects of financing of projects covering infrastructure and economic development. Previously, she represented the Government of Ghana (Ministry of Finance) as lead finance lawyer on the West African Gas Pipeline project.

Nana is dual qualified as a Barrister-at-Law, Ghana (1987) and Solicitor, England & Wales (1994). She obtained her post qualification experience with City of London (UK) commercial law firms including Denton Wilde Sapte and Eversheds Solicitors. Nana Eshun holds a BA (Law & Sociology) from the University of Ghana, BL (Barristers Law Practicing Certificate), Ghana School of Law, Law Society Finals, College of Law, Guildford (UK) and a Master of Laws LLM (International Business Law) from the University of London.
