Matthew Martz

Matthew Martz, PhD has a strong background in data science and machine learning, with experience in leading and growing teams in this field. Currently, they serve as the Head of Data Science/ML/AI and Technical Lead/Strategic Vision at AgBiome, where they direct innovative initiatives and leads a team of data scientists in driving biological research and product development. Prior to this, they worked at Firstleaf as the Head of Data Science/ML/AI and Principal Research and Machine Learning, where they developed and maintained core algorithms for the Firstleaf wine club and led a team in developing machine learning and AI platforms. Martz also has research experience, having served as a Research Fellow in Quantitative Cell Biology and Biophysics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and obtaining a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Quantitative Cell Biology from Thomas Jefferson University. Matthew initially began their career as a Research Assistant at the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where they conducted research on enzyme kinetics and structure-function relationships.

Matthew Martz, PhD obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Penn State University in 2006. Matthew then pursued further education at Jefferson Health, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2014. Following this, they undertook a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2014 to 2017, specializing in Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Quantitative Cell Biology.
