William Liu

William Liu has a diverse range of work experience in the field of bioinformatics and data science. William is currently working as a Bioinformatics Scientist at Agena Bioscience, where they started in June 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Genentech California USA as a Bioinformatics Scientist from January 2022 to May 2023.

From September 2020 to January 2022, William worked at Illumina as an Associate Scientist. In this role, they collaborated with internal and external stakeholders to develop Genotyping and Methylation array products. William also performed data analysis using Illumina proprietary software and resolved customer issues to improve their experience.

Before joining Illumina, William worked as a Data Scientist at ASML Cymer from September 2019 to August 2020. Prior to that, they served as a Bioinformatics Researcher at SDSU Research Foundation from June 2017 to November 2019. In this role, they were responsible for maintaining sequencing pipelines and performing machine learning analysis on various biological datasets.

William also has experience working as an Assay Chemist at UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory from September 2015 to September 2017. William managed and coordinated workflows for urine specimens and conducted chemical assays for anti-doping purposes.

During their time as a student at UCLA from September 2011 to June 2015, William gained experience as a Simul8 at Ucla Young Research Library. William also had a research internship at BGI-Shenzhen in November 2013, where they studied bioinformatics techniques and provided recommendations for neonatal intensive care issues using genomic services.

William Liu received their Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience and Bioinformatics from UCLA, where they studied from 2010 to 2015. Prior to that, they attended Venice High School from 2006 to 2010 and completed their high school education there. More recently, they pursued a Master's degree in Biomathematics, Bioinformatics, and Computational Biology at San Diego State University from 2018 to 2020.
