Keshav Kumar Nepal

Strain Engineer at AgroSpheres

Keshav Kumar Nepal has a diverse work experience in various research and scientific roles. Keshav currently works as a Strain Engineer at AgroSpheres starting from 2022. Prior to this, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher Associate at Washington University in St. Louis from 2018 to 2022. In this role, they led projects involving designing and executing experiments for strains engineering/improvement and conducted various biochemical assays.

Before that, Keshav worked as a Research Scientist at Florida Atlantic University, Harbor Branch Oceanographic Research Institute from 2017 to 2018. In this position, they led projects focused on exploring microbes that produce valuable anticancer metabolites from marine origins. Keshav also conducted screening and fermentation experiments to extract and analyze secondary metabolites.

From 2016 to 2017, Keshav served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Here, they constructed metagenomic libraries and screened for specific genetic elements related to ladderane lipid production.

Prior to that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Texas A&M University from 2013 to 2016. In this role, they contributed to the biosynthetic pathway investigation of azinomycin, an antitumor agent, and conducted molecular biology techniques including gene deletion, fermentation, and RNA analysis.

Keshav also has experience working as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB) from 2010 to 2012, where they focused on over-expression and enzyme assays of glycosyltransferase genes.

In terms of education, Keshav holds a Ph.D. from SunMoon University South Korea, where they studied kanamycin biosynthesis, identified minimal gene sets, and applied combinatorial biosynthetic approaches to produce unnatural natural aminoglycoside.

Overall, Keshav Kumar Nepal has extensive experience in conducting research, leading projects, and utilizing molecular biology techniques to investigate and engineer microbial strains for the production of valuable metabolites.

Keshav Kumar Nepal earned their Ph.D in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Sun Moon University. Keshav attended the university from 2005 to 2010.
