Francho Meléndez

Senior Computer Vision Engineer R&D at AI Retailer Systems

Francho Meléndez has worked in the field of computer vision and image processing since 2011. In that year, they joined ACM SIGGRAPH as a Committee Member for International Resources. In 2012, they became a freelance R&D Engineer in Computer Graphics and Image Processing. From 2013 to 2015, they were an R&D Graphics Engineer at CeTA - Audiovisual Technology Center, where they were primarily responsible for the research and development of innovative algorithms, software, systems, and techniques. During this time, they also served as Chair of the Wroclaw ACM SIGGRAPH Chapter from 2016 to 2019. In 2015, they took on the role of Assistant Professor at the University of Wroclaw, and in 2019, they became the Founder and Director of Research and Development at Betta Pixels. Francho also worked as a freelance Research Engineer for U.S. companies on MVPs and prototypes in the field of 3D scanning of interiors. In 2020, Francho Meléndez joined AI Retailer Systems (AIRS) as a Senior Computer Vision Engineer R&D and Fenomatch as a Research Director in Computer Vision and AI.

Francho Meléndez completed a Ph.D. in Computer Science from The University of Manchester between 2006 and 2010. Prior to that, they earned a degree in Computer Engineering from Universidad de Zaragoza between 2003 and 2006, with a focus in Computer Graphics.
