Emmi Tiilikainen has a diverse work experience starting from 2012. Emmi began their career as a Laboratory Assistant at Sappi in 2012. Emmi then worked as a Research Assistant at Kemira in 2013. In 2014, they joined the University of Helsinki as a Research Assistant in Pekka Katajisto's research group, where they were involved in various research projects and performed tasks such as mouse experiments, histology, stem cell work, and general molecular biology techniques. Emmi also worked as an Engineering Thesis Worker, studying the role of extracellular matrix (ECM) stiffness in intestinal stem cell function in 3D culture.

In 2017, Emmi became a Pro Gradu Student, working on their Master's Thesis titled "Lymphatic endothelial cell polarity during lymphatic vessel elongation and enlargement" in Kari Alitalo's cancer research group at the University of Helsinki. After completing their Master's thesis, they continued working at the University of Helsinki as a Research Assistant in Kari Vaahtomeri's lymphatics research group, where they contributed to various projects related to the regulation and sprouting of lymphatic vessels.

In 2021, Emmi joined Suomen Punainen Risti, Veripalvelu as a Research Assistant. Here, they gained experience in assisting with research projects. Currently, they are working as a Project Specialist at Aiforia Technologies since 2022.

Emmi Tiilikainen started their education in 2006 by attending Lohjan Yhteislyseon Lukio, where they completed their high school education from 2006 to 2009. Emmi then pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences from 2011 to 2015. Continuing further, Emmi attended the University of Helsinki from 2015 to 2018, where they obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Biotechnology. In 2016, they also had the opportunity to study abroad at the National University of Singapore to pursue another Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Biotechnology.
