Waleem Alausa

Waleem Alausa, PhD, FRM has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Waleem began their career at the University of Alberta as a Research Analyst from September 2008 to July 2012. Waleem then joined the Alberta Pensions Services Corporation (APS) and held positions such as Senior Reporting & Data Analyst, Manager of Business Intelligence & Analytics, and Manager of the Analytics Center of Excellence. During this time, they focused on data analysis, developing predictive algorithms, deriving insights from enterprise data, and driving strategic business decisions. Waleem later transitioned to the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) where they held roles as Manager of Internal Audit, Data Analytics, Senior Data Architect, and Manager of Liquidity Risk Modeling and Research. In their most recent role as Investment Risk Assurance Director - Internal Audit, Waleem led the investment audit program, evaluated AIMCo's investment activities and risk management practices, and ensured effective risk management across all asset classes. Through their work experience, Waleem has gained expertise in investment risk, data analytics, and strategic decision-making.

Waleem Alausa, PhD, FRM received their Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Ilorin in 2005. Waleem then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Economics at Central Michigan University from 2007 to 2008. Waleem furthered their education at the University of Alberta where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics from 2008 to 2014. In addition to their academic achievements, Waleem also completed the Leadership Development Program at the Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta in 2016. Waleem is also a Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) through the GARP FRM Program.
