Richard Boocock is senior vice president, chief information officer and special advisor to the chairman. He is responsible for Air Products’ commercial business in India, including managing the relationship with INOX Air Products, a joint venture company. He also serves as special advisor to the chairman and has leadership responsibility for a variety of functions, including generated gases; mid- and large-size cryogenic plants; environment, health, safety and quality; operational excellence; and information technology.
Mr. Boocock joined Air Products in 1982 as a participant in the company’s Career Development Program, undertaking assignments in engineering, and research and development. Following a succession of roles as a control and instrumentation engineer, working on a variety of international projects for air separation units and hydrocarbon processing units, Mr. Boocock moved into the sale of equipment business, selling hydrocarbon processing facilities to international oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical companies in 1990. He later moved into a business management role for sale of equipment, comprising air separation technology and hydrocarbon processing technology, before he continued to broaden his commercial experience in a move to lead the European Electronics Division from 1995 to 2000.
In 2000 Mr. Boocock changed paths and moved to head the European arm of the global information technology function. In 2001 he was asked to undertake an assignment at Air Products’ corporate headquarters in the U.S. as global program lead for the implementation of SAP into Air Products worldwide. After completing four successful releases of SAP, Mr. Boocock returned to Europe in 2004 as vice president, Tonnage Gases Europe and Middle East. He again returned to the U.S. where he was appointed vice president, Information Technology, and Chief Information Officer in 2008; vice president, Global Operations, in 2012; and vice president, Products, Technology and Operational Excellence for Industrial Gases, in 2014. In 2015, he was named president, Industrial Gases‒Middle East, India, Egypt and Turkey.
Mr. Boocock graduated from Birmingham University with Bachelor of Science (Hons) I degree in chemical engineering and later received an MBA from Henley Management College. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
