Alan Portela

Named Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2016, Alan Portela has more than 25 years of experience in bringing groundbreaking medical technology solutions to market. Mr. Portela originally joined AirStrip as a senior advisor and member of the Board prior to his appointment as CEO in 2011.

Mr. Portela’s vision of healthcare mobility has solidified AirStrip's leadership position in a rapidly-changing landscape. Under his direction, AirStrip has evolved from enabling near-real-time medical device mobile visualization and interoperability for obstetrics and cardiology waveforms to an enterprise-wide platform delivering full data interoperability and mobile visualization. The result of this evolution is a ‘single pane of glass’ that provides clinicians with near-real-time access from multiple data sources and care settings around their specific needs. Through AirStrip, Mr. Portela has helped to unlock the full analytical value of disparate healthcare data that can drive significant quality, outcomes, reimbursement, and cost improvements as healthcare shifts from fee-for-service to fee-for-value.

Prior to joining AirStrip, Mr. Portela was CEO and principal of Hybrid Clinical Transformation, LLC, where he developed successful EHR adoption strategies for the U.S. Military Health System and much of the Veterans Health Administration. He also served as President and Chief Strategist at CliniComp, Intl., and in senior executive roles in several innovative healthcare technology and service organizations.
