Head Brand And Communication at Airtel Uganda

Noela Byuma has a diverse work experience that spans over several companies. Noela began their career as a Direct Sales Representative at Standard Chartered Bank in 2007. From there, they joined Celtel as a Graduate Management Trainee, where they completed a 15-month training program with specialization in the Public Relations Department. Byuma then moved on to Zain, where they worked as a Public Relations Executive and later as a Corporate and SME Executive.

In 2010, Byuma transitioned to Airtel Uganda, where they held various roles. Noela started as a Brand and Communications Executive, responsible for delivering on the Annual Operating Plan objectives and successfully launching the Airtel Rising Stars program. Noela then became the Acting Brand and Communications Manager before being promoted to Brand Assets and Properties Executive, managing properties and sponsorship portfolios. Byuma went on to become the Brand Strategy Manager, overseeing brand differentiation and executing sponsorship deals. Most recently, they served as the Acting Head of Brand and Communications before being appointed as the Head of Brand and Communication in July 2022.

Throughout their career, Byuma has achieved notable accomplishments, including spearheading the rebranding project for Airtel and successfully integrating Airtel +Warid media sections. Noela also played a key role in the successful execution of Airtel's sole sponsorship of the national football team Uganda Cranes and the launch of Airtel Trace Music Stars competition. Furthermore, Byuma has received recognition for their outstanding performance, being voted Employee of the Month multiple times and receiving the Employee of the 3rd Quarter award.

Noela Byuma's education history begins in 1997 when they attended Nabisunsa Girls School for their high school education. Noela completed their high school studies in 2001. In 2003, they enrolled in St. Lawrence Citizens High School for a brief period and focused on subjects such as History, Economics, Geography, and Divinity.

By 2004, Noela Byuma had moved on to Uganda Martyrs University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management degree with a specialization in Finance. Noela completed their undergraduate studies in 2007.

Afterward, Noela Byuma furthered their education by pursuing professional certificates in Marketing from CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing. Noela successfully completed the Professional Certificate in Marketing in 2013 and the Diploma in Marketing in 2016.

In 2018, Noela Byuma embarked on a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University. Noela completed their MBA degree in 2020. Additionally, they are currently working towards earning their second MBA degree from the same institution, with an expected completion date in 2022. The focus of their studies in this degree includes Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services.
