Kevin Webber has over 20 years of work experience in software engineering and development. Kevin began their career in 2000 as a Senior Applications Developer at CIBC, where they were originally hired as a COBOL/JCL developer. In 2008, they moved to BMO Capital Markets as a Senior Applications Developer II, where they were responsible for the design, development, and quality control of both major and minor enhancements to BMO’s public-facing Capital Markets website. In 2010, they became a Consultant at TD Bank Group, performing systems analysis for customers and prospective customers across the globe. In 2011, they joined Nurun as a Technical Lead, leading the back-end development and hands-on architecture for the Walmart Canada project. In 2014, they became a Developer Advocate at Lightbend (formerly Typesafe), presenting at conferences and meetups around the world to bring awareness to Scala, Play, Akka, and other topics in distributed computing. In 2016, they founded RedElastic, a consulting firm specializing in “shift-left” software delivery from design through coding and deployment. In 2019, they joined Reading Plus as a Software Development Manager, directly managing a team of up to 10 Product Developers and Site Reliability Engineers. In 2021, they became a Senior Engineering Manager at MinuteBox, helping to scale up practices and processes for a growing development team, and leading a project management transformation from Trello to Shortcut. Kevin is currently a Site Reliability Engineering Manager at Aiven, managing a team of talented Site Reliability Engineers, and helping the leadership team to refine global incident management practices.

Kevin Webber attended Georgian College from 1997 to 1999, studying Computer Programming.
