Dane Walther

SVP & GM, Network Security at Akamai Technologies

Dane Walther is the Senior Vice President and General Manager responsible for Akamai's Network Security business within the Security Technology Group. He is responsible for leading engineering, product management, and business development for Akamai’s Network Security portfolio. In this role, he oversees the company’s strategy and product direction for Akamai's Enterprise Access Security products, Mobile/5G, DNS infrastructure, Authoritative and Recursive DNS security products, and all Carrier-specific security offerings. Akamai’s Carrier team builds solutions that enable Carriers, fixed, mobile, and converged, to create new enterprise security and Internet personalization products to offer to their customer base.

An Akamai veteran since 1999, Walther has worked across many areas of the company from IT to Operations to Engineering. His previous roles at Akamai include serving as General Manager of Akamai’s Media and Carrier business unit; Senior Vice President of Platform Engineering and Quality Assurance; Vice President of Engineering for Akamai’s Carrier Products business unit; and several years leading Akamai’s Custom Engineering business.

He has a Ph.D. from Brown University and did his postdoctoral studies at Harvard University.
