Mónica Carvajal-Pinto has over 10 years of professional experience in the fields of statistics and actuarial science. In 2008, they began their career as a Teaching Assistant at the Universidad de Chile. In 2009, they worked as a Statistical Programmer at Sistemas Integrales. In 2010, they were a Research Assistant at the Center for Analysis and Modeling of Security, where they modelled residential burglary patterns and supported the team with spatial data analysis in R. In 2011, they were a Consultant at the Logistics and Production Laboratory at the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM). In 2013, they worked as a Researcher at the Stochastic and Statistics Simulation Laboratory at CMM, where they collaborated with CODELCO-Chile and inferred geological properties of a copper mine based on data recorded by seismographs. In the same year, they were an Actuarial Consultant at CIEDESS. In 2014, they were a Statistical Support at CMM. From 2016 to 2020, they worked as a Teaching Assistant at The University of Manchester. Currently, they are an Actuarial Data Scientist at AKUR8.
Mónica Carvajal-Pinto attended Universidad de Chile from 2006 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering Sciences in Mathematics. Mónica then continued their studies at the same university from 2009 to 2013, majoring in Mathematical Engineering. In 2014 and 2015, they pursued an MSc in Actuarial Science at The University of Manchester. Finally, they completed their PhD in Probability at The University of Manchester in 2019.
