John Fricker

John Fricker has over 20 years of work experience in technology education and training. John is currently working as a Technology Education Manager at Alameda Health System, where they oversee a team of 11 trainers and manages the development and delivery of the EHR education program. Their responsibilities include onboarding process management, collaboration with healthcare leadership on educational initiatives, and training for system-wide projects.

Prior to their current role, John worked at Sutter Health as an EHR Education Manager for 10 years. During their tenure, they managed a team of over 20 trainers and was responsible for developing and delivering the EHR education program across multiple regional sites. John also implemented a new training registration system and established an online test-out option for experienced users in partnership with Epic.

Before joining Sutter Health, John worked at UCSF Medical Center as an EHR Training Manager. John led a team of 14 trainers and played a crucial role in the rollout of Epic-centered training for the hospital and outpatient clinics. John also managed the curriculum development across various applications.

John's experience also includes working at Stanford Hospital and Clinics as an Epic Principal Trainer, where they designed and managed a state-of-the-art training center and led the development of the curriculum for the hospital-wide electronic medical record system. At Kaiser Permanente, they served as an Epic Senior Learning Consultant, overseeing training environments and contributing to the development of an orientation program for new employees.

Prior to their healthcare industry roles, John worked as the Database Chair/IT Faculty at American InterContinental University. John delivered master's-level technology courses, collaborated with campus department chairs on course material development, and managed teaching assignments.

John Fricker holds a Master of Information Technology Education degree from Dalhousie University, which they obtained in 1999. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Dalhousie University in 1991. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications including Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt from The Lean Six Sigma Company in January 2023, ITIL Foundation Level from PeopleCert in May 2022, and EpicCare Ambulatory from Epic in September 2004.
