Thom Wilch

Faculty Director Of The Center For Sustainability And The Environment

Thom Wilch serves as the Faculty Director of the Center for Sustainability and the Environment and a Professor of Geology at Albion College since August 1998. Teaching a range of introductory and advanced courses including Geomorphology, Volcanology, and Glaciers and Climate Change, Wilch is also engaged in three research projects focused on ice-sheet reconstructions in Antarctica, the evolution of the Ice Springs Volcanic Field in Utah, and the fluvial hydrology of the Upper Kalamazoo Watershed. Previously, Wilch held the position of Program Director at the National Science Foundation, managing the Antarctic Earth Sciences program from June 2015 to August 2017. Wilch's academic credentials include a PhD in Geology from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, an MS in Quaternary Studies from the University of Maine, and a BA in Geology from Macalester College.
