Samuel Ide

Senior Director at Albright Stonebridge Group

Samuel Ide is a Senior Director at ASG, where he supports clients with interests in China and Central Asia as well as China’s Belt and Road Initiative through research and project coordination.

Prior to joining ASG, Mr. Ide completed extensive fieldwork in China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan for his master’s thesis on China’s Belt and Road Initiative. This academic work built on multiple research trips throughout his graduate and undergraduate career to China and Central Asia that included research on customs and trade issues, the connection between foreign affairs and economic policymaking, and cross-border trade networks.

Mr. Ide earned an M.A. in East Asian Studies from Stanford University focusing on Chinese foreign policy, and a B.A. with honors in Political Science and Asian Studies from Northwestern University. He also studied at the Inter-University Program for Chinese language at Tsinghua University, in addition to time spent at Peking University and Beijing Foreign Studies University. Mr. Ide speaks Chinese.

He is based in Washington, D.C.
