Renato C. A. Bacchi

EVP & Chief Commercial Officer at Alcoa

Renato Bacchi was named Senior Vice President and Treasurer of Alcoa Corporation as of November 1, 2019. In addition to responsibility for global treasury activities, Renato also has accountability for Alcoa’s Corporate Development function, which includes evaluating the best uses of the company’s capital, sourcing and executing transactions on acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures. Most recently, Renato was Vice President and Treasurer, which included managing risk, cash and relationships with creditors, rating agencies, and commercial banks as well as customary treasury duties.

Prior to the separation of Alcoa Inc. into two separate companies in 2016, Renato was Assistant Treasurer of Alcoa. He had also previously served as a board member of AlcoaPrevi, the Alcoa employees’ pension fund in Brazil.

Renato joined Alcoa Inc. in 1997 as a procurement intern in São Paulo (Brazil). He worked in the energy group, participating in the development of the Alcoa hydroelectric power plants there. He also purchased strategic raw material for the Latin American smelters and refineries, and later was responsible for Latin America primary metal sales, leading the increase of product premiums and market share in Brazil and Colombia.

In 2007, Renato joined Brazil Treasury, where he designed and implemented the funding strategy for the Alumar expansion and the Juruti mining projects. In 2010, he was named Corporate Finance Manager in Sao Paulo, leading the corporate controllership, corporate treasury, capital expenditure and internal control areas for Latin America and Caribbean region.

Renato graduated from São Paulo University (Brazil) in 2000, with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from IbMec University (Brazil) in 2004. In 2010, he received the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from CFA Institute. In 2019, Renato completed the Advanced Management Program 196 at Harvard University.

Renato serves on the board of directors of The Tully Family Theater, a nonprofit, film-based arts organization created to strengthen cultural, educational and entertainment experiences in the northwest region of Pittsburgh.
