Simon Owens has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Simon started their career as a Process Engineer at Prysmian in 2008. From 2010 to 2015, they pursued their PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Bath, where they conducted experimental research and developed dynamic multidimensional models. After completing their doctoral studies, Simon joined Advanced Plasma Power as a Process Engineer, where they contributed to the design of proprietary energy from waste processes. In 2015, they joined M+W Group as a Process Engineer and later became the Engineering Manager and Lead Process Engineer, leading teams and designing Energy from Waste projects. Simon then moved to alfanar in 2018, initially as a Senior Engineering Specialist and then as the Head of Engineering & Technology and Engineering & Technical Director, responsible for the development and execution of renewable fuels projects.

Simon Owens earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bath in the years 2010-2014. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Engineering (MEng) in Chemical Engineering at the same university from 2005-2010. Simon attended Caistor Grammar School for their primary education, but no specific degree or field of study was mentioned.
