Adam Shane

Chair, Applied Science and Environmental Technology at Algonquin College

Adam Shane is currently the Chair of Applied Science and Environmental Technology at Algonquin College. Prior to this, they were with the College of the North Atlantic in Qatar, where they served as Program Chair and Professor for the School of Applied Science and Engineering Technology, as well as Laboratory Coordinator for Analytical Chemistry.

Adam has over 20 years of experience in higher education, both in Canada and internationally. Adam is a strong advocate for hands-on, experiential learning and has been instrumental in developing new programs and curriculum that align with the needs of industry and government stakeholders. Under their leadership, the Applied Science and Environmental Technology program has become one of the most popular programs at Algonquin College, with students consistently achieving high rates of employment after graduation.

Adam Shane has a Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Analytical Instrumentation from the University of Florida, a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from McMaster University. Adam is also certified by the Ontario College of Teachers as a Certified Teacher, the Chemical Institute of Canada as a Member, and the American Association for Pharmaceutical Scientists and the American Chemical Society as Members.

Adam Shane reports to Eric Marois, Dean, School of Advanced Technology. They work with Sandra Brancatelli - Chair, Information and Communications Technology – Applications and Programming, David Thibodeau - Chair, Mechanical and Transportation Technology, and John Dallas - Chair, Information and Communications Technology – Security Systems and Networking.
