Duane McNair is currently the Vice President of Finance and Administration at Algonquin College. Prior to this, they held the position of Treasurer from September 2010 to June 2019. In this role, they were responsible for general financial oversight, financial planning, budgeting and reporting. Duane also acted as a key financial management resource for the Foundation's Board of Directors.
From April 2007 to August 2010, Duane was the Director of Finance and Administrative Services at Algonquin College. In this role, they were responsible for financial reporting, internal controls, procurement, risk management, business process review and logistics. Duane initiated the 2010 Strategic Programs and Services Planning Project at Algonquin College which resulted in improved program offerings, resource allocation and service offerings. Duane was also a key resource to the College’s Audit Committee and Board of Governors on financial statements, investment management, annual budget and internal audits.
Duane McNair is a certified public accountant who holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Waterloo. Duane also has a Master of Business Administration from Laurentian University/Université Laurentienne, as well as a master's certificate in project management from The George Washington University. In addition, they have completed management and leadership courses at Harvard University Graduate School of Education and the National Executive Leadership Institute at Colleges and Institutes Canada. Duane also holds the Canadian Risk Management designation from Carleton University and the Canadian Securities Course from the Canadian Securities Institute.
They work with Ron Mclester - Vice President – Truth, Reconciliation & Indigenization, Patrick Devey - AVP, Global, Online, and Corporate Learning, and Laura Stanbra - Vice President, Student Services. Duane McNair reports to Claude Brulé, President & CEO. Some direct reports include Grant Perry - Director, Finance and Administrative Services, David Soltis - Director, People & Culture, and Brent Brownlee - Director Campus Services.
