Ridha Alshamari

Ridha Alshamari has a diverse and extensive work experience. In 2005, they co-founded Alsumaria and Almada news agencies in Iraq, where they worked as a journalist, ensuring the integrity of journalistic materials through data-based research. From 2014 to 2017, they were a Team Leader at Novetta, where they supervised a team collecting and analyzing data on human rights violations and intelligence on ISIS-held territories in Iraq. In 2015, Alshamari became the Editor-in-Chief at the Institute for War & Peace Reporting, leading a team in an anti-extremism social media project that reached over 25 million people per week, making a significant impact on shifting Iraqi public opinion. Ridha joined The George Washington University in 2020 as a Due Diligence Consultant. From 2017 to 2020, Alshamari worked at the Middle East Broadcasting Networks as a Multimedia Producer, Journalist, Social Media Team Lead, and Editor, where they wrote successful data-based stories, conducted research, analyzed audience growth, and developed data-driven marketing strategies. Currently, they are working at Amazon as an ML Data Linguist, handling language data, text annotation, and general data analysis, while also providing data quality expertise and coaching improvements to their team members.

Ridha Alshamari obtained a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Baghdad, where they studied from 2004 to 2008. In 2020, Ridha pursued a Certificate in Data analysis and visualization from Springboard, which was completed in 2021. Ridha also obtained several additional certifications, including Python from HackerRank and LinkedIn in October 2021, Foundations: Data, Data, Everywhere from Google in July 2021, and Introduction to Programming Using Python from the University of Michigan in October 2020. Additionally, Ridha pursued a Data analytical career track from Springboard, although the specific completion date is not provided.
