Yu-Hsien Hwang-Fu

Staff Scientist at Alida Biosciences

Yu-Hsien Hwang-Fu is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Alida Biosciences. Prior to that, they worked as a Scientist, Reagent Development at Element Biosciences, a Postdoctoral Researcher at Stanford University, a Grad Intern at Amgen, and a Research Assistant at National Taiwan University. At Stanford University, they investigated antibody neutralization mechanisms and potential applications against Enteroviruses under the supervision of Dr. Peter S. Kim. At Caltech, they worked as a PhD Candidate under the supervision of Dr. Shu-ou Shan, investigating the molecular mechanism of receptor regulations in co-translation protein targeting (Signal Recognition Particle Pathway). They also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, coordinating with research groups for instrument time and organizing experiment materials, as well as tutoring theories behind experiments. At Amgen, they worked as a summer intern at Biologics Optimization, Department of Therapeutic Discovery, doing structure-guided antibody engineering and having hands-on experiences with mammalian cell culture. At National Taiwan University, they worked as a Research Assistant under the supervision of Dr. Yuan-Chung Cheng, developing a modified Redfield theory model for coherent quantum dynamics of excitation energy transfer in condensed phase molecules and carrying out numerical simulations to demonstrate the new theoretical framework.

Yu-Hsien Hwang-Fu received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry from National Taiwan University in 2011, after studying there from 2007-2011. Yu-Hsien then went on to receive a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry from Caltech in 2018.
