Head of Global DE&I & Belonging at Allbirds

Matthew Gill is currently the Head of Global DE&I & Belonging at Allbirds. Previously, they worked as the Senior Manager Diversity & Inclusion Strategy at Charles Schwab from October 2016 to August 2021. In this role, they partnered across the firm with Talent Acquisition, Corporate Communications, and People Analytics to drive programmatic initiatives and advise senior leaders on integrating equality across the entire employee life cycle. Matthew also evolved Schwab's approach to attract, recruit, promote, develop and retain talent. Some of their notable accomplishments include launching the Employee Resources Group Program, managing internal & external communication campaigns to build D&I strategy for client and talent attraction and retention, DEI training and programming (including the annual firm-wide “Week of Belonging” over 80 events across 15 locations in 5 days), and DEI approach for firm acquisitions from 500- 10,000 employee firms.

Before joining Charles Schwab, Gill was the Community Director at Brown University from June 2013 to May 2016. Matthew was also an Instructor at Eastern Michigan University from August 2012 to May 2013.

Matthew Gill's educational career began with a Bachelor of Arts from Keene State College, where they studied communication, psychology, and philosophy. Matthew then went on to earn a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership- Higher Education/ Student Affairs from Eastern Michigan University. Finally, they completed their education with a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University.

Matthew Gill reports to Laila Tarraf, Chief People Officer. Matthew Gill works with Rosemary Giacomelli - Global Senior Director of People & Experience, Jessica Barhydt - Head of Talent Development & Engagement, and Evan Salisbury - Director of Total Rewards & Workplace Experience.
