POSITION OVERVIEW:

Alliance Automation has an immediate opening for a Quality Control Inspector I at our rapidly growing business in Van Wert, Ohio. The Quality Control Inspector will work under the direction of Quality Engineers and other Inspectors to evaluate machined and fabricated machine components for proper fit, form, and function.

TOP 5 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Quality inspection of machined and fabricated components from internal and external sources

  2. Identify discrepancies on Engineering Drawings and elevate

  3. Generates Non-Conformance Reports for internal and external sources

  4. Maintains the inspection equipment, including housekeeping

  5. Well versed with basic inspection tools such as calipers, mics, pin gauges, etc.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Perform quality inspections of machined and fabricated components for one-off material handling and automation machines to evaluate fit, form, and function to the engineering drawings and documented standards

  • Promote continuous improvement by red-lining engineering drawings when issues with dimensions, tolerances, or callouts are noted

  • Manage the quarantine of non-conforming material when identified and initiate the non-conformance process

  • Evaluate outsourced material to ensure quality expectations are met

  • Assist with managing the inventory, maintenance, and calibration schedule for inspection equipment

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use precision measuring equipment to verify internal and customer specifications are adhered to including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, bore gauges, and CMM equipment

  • Inspect customer pre-production parts when required

  • Participate in Supplier Development and evaluate quality of outsourced components

  • Create PowerPoint and Excel documents for training and documentation purposes of quality issues under the direction of Quality Engineers when required

  • Create Quality Alerts and Non-Conformance Reports when required

  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis exercises when required

  • Support and reinforce the Redline Drawing process

  • Keeps the Quality Engineers and Manager informed of issues, concerns, and areas for improvement

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Basic blueprint reading (preferred)

  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) (preferred)

  • Basic knowledge of machining and fabrication processes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Knowledge of or willingness to learn how to use CMM equipment
    • Willingness to learn new skills and receive formal training to expand abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and OneNote)

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Vocational or Tech School (preferred)

  • Prior QC measurement experience (preferred)
