Sophia Duan

Sophia Duan has a diverse range of work experience in the financial industry. Sophia began their career as a Research Assistant at the Key Laboratory for NeuroInformatics and NeuroComputing in 2007. In 2008, they also worked as a Research Assistant at American Options Valuation Research, where they focused on the Canonical Valuation of American options.

In 2010, Sophia worked as a Statistical Analyst at Eurex, where they developed automation tools for data management and conducted correlation analyses. Sophia then transitioned to the role of a Quantitative Trader at L.F.K. S.A in 2011, where they developed and implemented trading models and strategies for derivatives.

Sophia's next position was at HSBC, where they served as a VP - Independent Model Review from 2014 to 2018. In this role, they planned and executed independent reviews to ensure model efficiency and compliance with regulatory requirements. Sophia also reviewed and validated financial and risk models for various frameworks.

Currently, Sophia is the Director of Decision Science & Insights at Alliant Credit Union. Since 2018, they have been leading the enterprise analytics function, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement machine learning models and build scalable business intelligence solutions.

Sophia Duan has a diverse educational background. Sophia completed their Master of Science in Financial Engineering (MSFE) from Kent State University from 2009 to 2010. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Science Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China from 2006 to 2009. Sophia also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Biomedical Engineering from the same university from 2002 to 2006.

In addition to their formal education, Sophia Duan has achieved the certification of a CFA Level II Candidate from the CFA Institute in June 2016.
