Jeff Abernathy

Jeff Abernathy is Alma College’s 13th president. An English professor, he has a long-term commitment to the core values of a liberal arts education. Prior to coming to Alma, Dr. Abernathy served as vice president and dean of Augustana College from 2004-2010. Dr. Abernathy’s primary area of study is African -American literature. He is author of To Hell and Back: Race and Betrayal in the Southern Novel.
