Brandy Olin Pope has a diverse work experience. Brandy began their career in 2002 as a waitress at Hometown Cafe. In 2013, they began working at the University of Washington, Department of Biochemistry as a Student Assistant and Undergraduate Intern. Brandy conducted RNAi screens using C. elegans to identify hif-1 downstream targets involved in cell arrest. Later that year, they began working at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center as a Research Technician, supporting the Elahe Mostaghel Lab in the research of androgen and androgen receptor-related resistance in prostate cancer. In 2016, they started working at the University of Washington as a Research Scientist 2 and Research Scientist, Lab Manager for Gerner Lab in the Department of Immunology. Brandy researched adaptive immune cell fate determination in the Michael Gerner lab as related to cellular positioning and microenvironments in lymphatic and tumor tissue. In 2022, they began working at Alpenglow Biosciences as a Research Scientist.
Brandy Olin Pope began their educational journey at Skagit Valley College, where they earned an Associate of Science (A.S.) in Biology, General from 2009 to 2011. Brandy then continued their studies at the University of Washington, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from 2012 to 2014.
