Ashish Datar, CFA has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Ashish began their career in 1996 as a Manager at Times Guaranty, followed by roles in various financial institutions such as Tata Finance Limited, BOB Mutual Fund, Tandem Financials Limited, and M. M. Nissim. In 2001, Datar joined Bennett, Coleman and Co. Ltd. (Times Group) as Deputy Chief Manager in the M&A department, where they played a crucial role in conceptualizing new venture strategies and managing merger processes. In 2005, they joined Global Investment House as the Assistant Vice President and acted as the Head of the Mergers and Acquisitions Team, evaluating international investment opportunities and serving on the founding board of CNBC Pakistan, CNBC Africa, and Murdoch University Dubai. Currently, Ashish Datar holds a significant position as the Chief Investment Officer - Group Investments at Alshaya Group, where they lead the management of global investment portfolios and oversees inorganic growth strategies such as M&A and new business diversification. Ashish works closely with advisors, conducts due diligence, negotiates closing documents, monitors post-investment, and develops exit strategies.
Ashish Datar, CFA, has a strong education background in finance and investments. Ashish obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Mumbai in 1994, followed by a Masters in Management Studies (MBA equivalent) from the same university in 1996. In 2008, Ashish completed the CFA program at the CFA institute in Charlottesville, where they focused on investments. Additionally, they have pursued an Executive Education in Value Investing through Columbia Business School online.
