Jonathan Melia has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Jonathan started their career at Iceland Foods in 2003, initially serving as a Retail Operations - Regional/Area Manager. Jonathan demonstrated strong performance and was promoted multiple times, eventually becoming the Head of Retail Operations, overseeing a region with over 265 stores. Melia also held the position of Head of Retail Operations, where they developed retail strategies, managed trading operations, and led store development programs.
In 2013, Melia transitioned to the role of International Business Development Manager at Iceland Foods, where they focused on expanding the brand's presence outside of the UK. Jonathan successfully established and managed a Wholesale division exporting to the Middle East and South Africa. Jonathan also set up operations in the Czech Republic, providing a platform for expansion into Central Europe.
Melia joined Alshaya Group in 2017 as a Business Director, responsible for managing renowned food retail and casual dining brands across various markets. In 2021, they were promoted to Vice President - Digital & Marketing, Hospitality Division, where they oversaw digital marketing, brand marketing, and operational services functions. Currently, Melia holds the position of Vice President - Supply Chain, Starbucks Division at Alshaya Group. In this role, they lead the supply chain function across 13 markets and over 2000 sites, providing strategic direction for category planning, procurement, logistics, and margin improvements.
Jonathan Melia attended Ashton 6th Form College from 1988 to 1990, where they studied A levels. Jonathan then studied business studies & Law at Sheffield Hallam University from 1991 to 1992.
