Somnath Roy

Somnath Roy is an experienced engineering leader with a robust background in train design and aerospace engineering. Currently, Somnath serves as Head of Train Design at Alstom, overseeing a large engineering team responsible for delivering innovative solutions across multiple product platforms. Previously, Somnath held the role of Head of Sealed Carbody at both Alstom and Bombardier, where significant team reorganization and optimization were implemented for the successful execution of AVENTRA projects. Somnath's expertise includes advanced stress analysis and integrated product development, gained through roles at Affluent Technology Limited and QuEST, where work focused on vibration analysis and fatigue tolerance for aero-engine components. Somnath holds an M.Tech in Aerospace from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering from The Aeronautical Society of India.
