Huw's career began at Smart Human Logistics (SMART acquired HMT Systems) in March 2009, where they held the role of Development Manager. During this time, they designed, developed, and delivered enterprise rostering software for NHS clients. Huw managed a development and QA team of eleven members across multiple sites.

Before joining Smart Human Logistics, Huw worked as a Senior Developer at HMT Systems from June 2007 to March 2009. Here, they led the UI development of an enterprise-level rostering system for the NHS, which involved migrating from vb6 to c# and redesigning the user interface, system architecture, and database. Additionally, they served as an Agile mentor and showcased the benefits of Agile practices to improve productivity and quality.

Huw started their career in 2006 as a Solutions Engineer at Egg, focusing on the live Egg banking website. Huw worked with Agile XP development using C# and ASP.NET. Prior to this, they worked as an IT Consultant at CACI Ltd from May 2004 to June 2006, specializing in .net development of Document Management and Document Imaging systems for public sector clients throughout the UK.

Huw Bristow completed their education history with a PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, specializing in Context Aware Wearable Computing, from the University of Birmingham. Huw obtained this degree from 2001 to 2004. Prior to their doctoral studies, Huw obtained a MEng degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the same university from 1997 to 2001.
