Jörn Drappa

Jörn Drappa has extensive work experience in the field of medicine and biotechnology. Jörn is currently the Chief Medical Officer at Alumis, a position they have held since September 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Member of the Board of Directors at Alpine Immune Sciences, Inc. since July 2022.

In 2021, Drappa worked as the Chief Medical Officer at Ventyx Biosciences until May, where they were responsible for medical affairs and clinical development. Before that, they held the position of Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Horizon from March to September 2021.

Drappa's career also includes being the Head of R&D and Chief Medical Officer at Viela Bio, a company they co-founded in 2018. At Viela Bio, they oversaw all aspects of research and development.

From 2011 to 2018, Drappa held various roles at MedImmune, where they served as the Vice President of Clinical Biologics. Jörn was responsible for clinical development and oversaw the development of several biologics that gained approval.

Earlier in their career, Drappa worked at Genentech as the Senior Medical Director and later as a Medical Director. Jörn led the global development of ocrelizumab and directed the early development groups in neurology and ophthalmology.

Drappa's career began at Amgen, where they held the role of Associate Director in Medical Sciences. Jörn also gained experience at the Hospital for Special Surgery as an Assistant Attending Physician and completed a fellowship in Rheumatology. Jörn furthered their medical training at New York Presbyterian Hospital during their residency in Internal Medicine.

Overall, Jörn Drappa has held several leadership positions and played a crucial role in the development and approval of multiple biologics throughout their career.

Jörn Drappa holds an MD, Ph.D. degree in Immunology from Cornell University where they completed a postdoc program. Prior to that, they obtained an MD, Ph.D. from the University of Cologne. Jörn also holds additional certifications as a Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.
