Ken Costa

Partner, Co-Chairman, Merchant Banking at Alvarium

Ken is a Partner and Co-Chairman at Alvarium. He is the Founder of Ken Costa Strategic and has been involved in investment banking for more than 35 years.

Ken served as Chairman of Lazard International and a Co-Head of UK Investment Banking at Lazard Ltd from 2007 until 2011. Prior to Lazard, he was Chairman of UBS Investment Bank Warburg for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Chairman of the Investment Banking Board of SBC Warburg. He served as Vice Chairman of Investment Banking at UBS AG (UBS Group AG), Deputy Chairman of SG Warburg & Co Ltd and Vice Chairman of UBS Warburg. He has been a Non-Executive Director of Canary Wharf Group Investment Holdings PLC (formerly known as Songbird Estates PLC) since December 2014 and a Non-Executive Director of OAO Holding Company METALLOINVEST since November 2011. Ken began his career in investment banking at SG Warburg in 1976. Prior to that he was at Salomon Brothers Inc. He specialises in providing advice to family-controlled companies and has advised a number of Middle Eastern investment companies on acquisitions, with a focus on structuring cross-border mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Ken studied Law and Philosophy at Witwatersand University in South Africa and holds a Masters of Law Degree and a Certificate in Theology from Queens’ College, Cambridge.
