Alex Dowie

Alex Dowie is a software engineer at Alvys. Alex previously worked as a UX / UI developer at Caribbean Producers Jamaica Limited (CPJ) from April 2016 to September 2018, and as an application developer from June 2010 to April 2021.

At CPJ, Alex was responsible for designing, developing and maintaining in-house apps from the ground up. Alex also assisted the Senior UX / UI Developer with implementing a security awareness culture through policies, working with the HR Department and conducting staff training. In addition, they developed UI functionality with User-Centered Design (UCD) as the main focus.

Before joining CPJ, Alex worked as an application developer for Caribbean Producers Jamaica Limited from June 2010 to April 2021. In this role, they were responsible for maintaining and enhancing current inhouse applications to ensure quality and continued business usability. Alex also designed and developed new applications on request by stakeholders, and designed, developed and maintained in-house applications that enhanced business processes and enforced business policies.

Alex Dowie has a Bachelor of Science in Computing from the University of Technology in Jamaica. Alex also has a certification in web development from Udacity and a certification in computer science from Udacity. Alex is currently honing their coding, problem solving, and designing skills through CodeWars. Additionally, they are taking courses in React-Native and Application Development with Kivy (Python) through Udemy. Finally, they have completed coursework in Computer Software and Media Applications through the Zero To Mastery Academy.
