Hani Ismael

Hani Ismael has over 20 years of experience in Human Resources, with a focus on strategic HR management and transformation. Hani is currently the Director of HR at Alyasra Fashion, a leading Kuwaiti retailer.

Prior to joining Alyasra Fashion, Hani was the Group Human Resources Director at The Sultan Center, a fresh food and general merchandise retailer with 11,000 employees and 60 stores across Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Lebanon and Bahrain. In this role, they were responsible for all HR aspects of the company, including designing and delivering a new organisational structure to facilitate shared services across stores, and developing a HR strategy to align disparate HR functions and transform HR from traditional to strategically integrated.

Hani also played a key role in embedding the first performance management processes in the group, and setting up a Training Academy to futureproof The Sultan Center against change and build sustainable capability. In addition, they developed a branded staff engagement survey across the group to highlight opportunities for improvements to morale. Proactively responding to feedback, they were able to significantly boost morale and culture within The Sultan Center.

Prior to their role at The Sultan Center, Hani was a Project Manager at Kuwait Controls.

Hani has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the American University of Beirut.

Hani Ismael's educational career includes a BA in English Literature from Zagazig University, an MSc in Human Resources Management from The University of Edinburgh, and an MBA in Business Administration from the Maastricht School of Management.
