Richard Oakley has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and organizations. Richard is currently working at Alzheimer's Society as the Associate Director of Research and Innovation. Prior to this, they held the position of Associate Director of Research and Head of Research at the same organization. Before joining Alzheimer's Society, Richard worked at Cancer Research UK (CRUK) where they held various roles including Head of Research Information and Communications, Senior Information Manager, Senior Research Funding Manager, and Research Funding Manager. Richard also worked as the HE STEM Project Officer at the Royal Society of Chemistry. Richard began their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ecole Polytechnique Federal de Lausanne.

Richard Oakley holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Materials Chemistry from the University of Bristol in the years 2005 to 2009. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Warwick, earning an MChem degree in Chemistry from 2001 to 2005. Richard Oakley began their educational journey at Oxted School from 1994 to 2001, where they obtained their A-Levels in Chemistry, Physics, and Maths. In addition to their academic qualifications, Richard Oakley has certifications in HIGH5 Strengths Test and Myers Briggs Assessment.
