Joe Gershenson

Joe Gershenson is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in machine learning and applied science. Currently serving as Director of Applied Science at Amazon's AGI team since June 2024, Joe previously held the position of Head of Research Engineering at Adept, where responsibilities included overseeing the development of cutting-edge multimodal models. Prior to that, Joe led the Machine Learning Infrastructure group at Stripe and managed engineering teams at Segment.com. Joe's career also includes significant roles as a software engineer at Infer, Inc. and Facebook, as well as co-founding the eye-tracking startup GazeHawk, Inc. Joe holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and completed a program at Y Combinator.
