Neil Hardy, PhD has a diverse work experience. In 2022, they began working at Ambient Photonics as the Head of Testing and Automation Architect. From 2017-2022, they worked at the University of California, Santa Cruz as a PhD Researcher, Graduate Teaching Assistant, and PhD Researcher. During this time, they taught introductory and upper level physics and electronics labs and graded reports and exams. Neil also performed neuroscience experiments by dissecting rat and mice retinas and using micro-electrode array recordings. From 2014-2015, they worked at the Georgia Institute of Technology as an Undergraduate Researcher, where they developed amplifiers and stimulators for experiments and classes and designed and performed experiments for cardiac research in pacing and defibrillation. In 2015, they worked at the Institute of Electronics and Nanotechnology as a Trainer/Staff.

Neil Hardy, PhD completed their Advanced Diploma at Spain Park High School from 2009 to 2013. Neil then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2013 to 2017. Following this, they earned a Master of Science in Physics from the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2017 to 2019. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2019 to 2022.
