Francisco Macía Varela

Unity Developer & Technical Artist at Amelia Virtual Care

Francisco Macía Varela has a diverse work experience in the fields of virtual reality (VR) development and research. Francisco worked as a Unity Developer & Technical Artist at Amelia Virtual Care starting from October 2022. Prior to that, they served as a VR Research Assistant at Universitat de Barcelona from November 2020 to October 2022. Additionally, they worked as an XR Developer & Technical Artist at Jacobs from September 2019 to July 2020. In 2017, Francisco was a VR Research Intern at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, where they conducted studies on humanoid robots using VR and explored the physiological basis of the Own-race bias on facial perception using EEG.

Francisco Macía Varela completed their Master of Science degree in Serious Games & Virtual Reality from The Glasgow School of Art in the year 2019. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Glasgow, which they completed in the year 2018. In February of 2020, Francisco also received a certification as a STEM Ambassador from STEM Learning UK.
