Alex Rodriguez Lopez

Engineering Team Leader at Amenitiz

Alex Rodriguez Lopez is currently the engineering team leader at Amenitiz. Prior to this, they worked as the team lead and full-stack developer at Championchip from November 2015 to February 2021. At Championchip, they were responsible for leading IT and developing the company's runner's portal, social network, event registration and payment platform, as well as its associated mobile app for Android and iOS. Alex also served as a sys and db admin, performing systems and domains administration, monitoring and backups. In order to scale the business as it grew, they went from a simple MySQL database to a master-slave scheme, then finally to a MariaDB Galera Cluster with a MaxScale load-balancer on front, to achieve total redundancy without sacrificing write performance. Another big achievement was the development of a new payment platform (using Redsys API), capable of managing several customer accounts in the back end, and allowing for one-click payments (saving card references in the user profile), which has proven to be solid over the years. Alex also led the development of a desktop timing app to use during races, that collects and manipulates timing data to generate reports (Kotlin, JavaFX). During their time at Championchip, they acquired a broader sense of architecture and software engineering and developed an appreciation for the functional and reactive style of programming.

Alex Rodriguez Lopez has a Diploma in Computer Software from UPC School (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) and a Professional Degree in Jazz and Modern music from L’AULA de Música Moderna i Jazz.

Alex Rodriguez Lopez reports to Frédéric Cerdan, VP, Technology & Engineering. Some of their coworkers include Gvidas Abakanavicius - Staff Engineer, Javier Chaure - Engineering Manager, and Giorgio Polvara - Staff Engineer.
