Sofija Volertas, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, focusing on IgE-mediated diseases, food intolerances, and the transition of care from pediatric to adult models. In addition to clinical practice, Volertas actively engages in medical education and faculty development through leadership roles in the Academy of Educators and as a case-based medical school educator. Volertas also serves on multiple committees related to telehealth, diversity, equity, and quality improvement. Previously, relevant experiences include positions at the University of Michigan as a Fellow in Allergy and Immunology and at UChicago Medicine as Chief Resident. Volertas holds an MD from Georgetown University and a BA from Duke University. Current responsibilities extend to consulting for healthcare investment firms and participating in advisory roles for organizations focused on allergy and immunology.
