James Pierson has a diverse work experience. James started as a Snowboarding Instructor at Wolf Creek Ski Area in 2004 and then became a Lead Architectural Designer at UHB from 2005 to 2011. In 2011, they joined American Alpine Institute Ltd as the Cascades Programs Coordinator and later became the Assistant Director of Operations. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Operations at the same company. James has also been a Volunteer Trip Leader and Branch Committee Member at The Mountaineers (Bellingham Branch) since 2011. Additionally, they have been a Volunteer SAR Team Member at Bellingham Mountain Rescue Council since 2019.
James Pierson attended Kansas State University from 1999 to 2005, where they obtained a Bachelor of Interior Architecture degree. During their time at the university, they specialized in the field of study of Interior Architecture. Additionally, James Pierson has obtained certifications in various areas, including being an Apprentice Rock Guide and an Assistant Alpine Guide from the American Mountain Guides Association, as well as being certified in PPE Competent by Petzl and a Certified Single Pitch Instructor by the American Mountain Guides Association.
