Rafael Medeiros

Rafael Medeiros is a geneticist with extensive experience in genomic technologies applied to livestock, focusing on beef and dairy cattle and aquaculture. Currently serving as a Geneticist at the American Angus Association since May 2023, Rafael previously held the position of Principal Scientist and Senior Scientist at Zoetis from April 2018 to June 2023, where responsibilities included developing educational initiatives in genetic technology for industry partners. Rafael's research background includes a role as a Postdoctoral Researcher at The University of Georgia, contributing to a project on improving production efficiency in salmonids through quantitative genetics and genome-wide association studies. Rafael earned a PhD in Animal Breeding and Genetics from Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" and has a Master's and Bachelor's in Animal Sciences from Universidade Federal de Alagoas.
