Deanna Byrd

Deanna Byrd currently serves as the Associate NAGPRA Director at the Peabody Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology and holds positions as a Consulting Specialist and Research and Outreach Program Manager with the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Byrd's responsibilities include overseeing research projects and managing monthly publications. In addition, Byrd is actively involved in various professional organizations, including serving on the Executive Committee for the Southeastern Archaeological Conference and as a Task Force member for the American Anthropological Association. Previous experience includes positions such as Associate Editor for the Society for Historical Archaeology and NAGPRA Liaison-Coordinator II for the Choctaw Nation. Byrd's educational background includes a Master's degree in Archaeology from Illinois State University and a Bachelor's degree in Criminology/Sociology from the University of Oklahoma, complemented by an Associate degree in Social Sciences from Thomas Nelson Community College.
