Andrew Black

Andrew Black is Chief of Staff and Chief Public Affairs Officer at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world’s largest general scientific society and publisher of Science and its family of peer-reviewed journals. With 120,000 members and more than 260 affiliated societies and academies of science, AAAS represents and serves millions of people across all fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Black joined AAAS in February 2015. He directs the association’s Executive Office and serves as senior advisor to the CEO while also overseeing AAAS governance, legal, communications, government relations and advocacy, and meetings and special events. He has been heavily involved in the recent expansion of AAAS' work to infuse scientific evidence into policymaking at the federal, state, and local levels.
