Athena Coustenis

Athena Coustenis has held the position of Directrice de Recherche, Classe Exceptionnelle at the Observatoire de Paris since 1991 and currently serves as a member of the IUGG Bureau, as well as the President of the Scientific Council of LE STUDIUM Loire Valley Institute for Advanced Studies. Additionally, Athena Coustenis presides over the Comité d'évaluation de la recherche et de l'exploration spatiale at CNES and chairs the COSPAR Panel on Planetary Protection. In 2023, Athena Coustenis was appointed Vice-Chair of the Division for Planetary Sciences at the American Astronomical Society and has been a trustee of the International Academy of Astronautics since 2017. Previous roles include chairing the ESA Human Spaceflight and Exploration Science Advisory Committee and the European Science Foundation Space Sciences Committee. Athena Coustenis also served as Vice President of Europlanet 2020 RI from 2015 to 2019.
