William Phelan

William Phelan has a diverse work experience spanning across several companies. William currently serves as a Board Member at SHRM since 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Senior Associate Executive Director & CFO at the American Bar Association from September 2015, and later became the CFO until August 2015. William was also a Board Member, Chair of the Board, and Audit Committee at Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores Inc (SHOS) from October 2015 to April 2019. Phelan has held various roles at Sears Holdings Corporation, including SVP - Finance from September 2011 to December 2013, Acting CFO from May 2011 to August 2011, SVP, Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer from June 2007 to April 2011, and VP, Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer from March 2005 to May 2007. Their earlier experience includes working as an Asst. Controller and Internal Audit Director at Sears, Roebuck, and Co. from September 1992 to March 2005. William began their career as an Audit Professional at Deloitte from June 1985 to August 1992.

William Phelan attended the University of Notre Dame from 1981 to 1985, where they obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in Accounting.
