Mel Williams

Mel Williams serves as the Executive Director of the North American Association of Wardens and Superintendents (NAAWS) since August 2018, overseeing the organization's operations and ensuring its viability under the President's guidance. Williams has held the role of International Security Standards Specialist at the American Correctional Association since March 2013, focusing on facility operations and compliance with international standards. Prior experience includes teaching Criminal Justice courses at Genesee Community College from August 2009 to June 2014, and working as a Compliance Reviewer for Nakamoto Group from March 2009 to December 2013. Williams began a career in corrections with the New York State Department of Corrections, serving as Superintendent (Warden) from May 1990 to March 2009. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Corrections Administration from California State University, Chico, and a degree in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York, Buffalo.
